Business Help – Retaining your customers
Let’s pretend for a moment that you have a tutoring business and you have 4 clients that you are serving. You’ve had them all for about 3 months. They pay on time and you like them and their parents so you want to keep them. Here are some ways you can do that.
1. You should schedule an appointment to speak with the parents at least monthly for a few minutes. Our guide talks about setting goals for the tutoring sessions. This is a time when you go over the goals, make new goals, talk about progress or even things they may not like.
2. If you don’t speak with the parents after every session, make sure to email them a summary of what you did during the tutoring session with their child and things they may need to work on.
3. We talked previously about making the tutor session fun for the child. Again if they howl every time it’s time for tutoring soon the parents will get tired of bringing them. As you tutor you’ll get better at striking the balance between learning and fun.
Next time in this section we’ll be talking about firing the customer, which sometimes (believe it or not) you’ll need to do.
