Math Flashcards
Price: $0.99
Similar to the flashcards app we talked about earlier – this app is for math. Older children can memorize, or refresh their math skills with the Math Flashcards app. Sets of cards include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Math Drills Lite
Price: Free
I always found math to be easiest when I knew a few tricks to help me solve equations. Math Drills lite provides kids with a selection of drills that focus on basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Each drill offers aids and ‘tricks’ that will help the students remember how to solve the problem.
Note you will want to make sure the methods correspond with the tutor student’s teacher. If they don’t you’ll want to teach them that method first and then use the shortcut from Math Drills Lite.
Rocket Math FreeÂ
Price: Free
Rocket Math is an appropriate free math app for children of all ages. This is a great game because as students progress they’ll be able to get money – with the money they can work on building a rocket ship. And who doesn’t want to build their own rocket ships. This is mostly for grade schoolers, students will learn basic math functions like telling time, handling money and shapes.
Wolfram Alpha is one of my favorite Math Apps. It covers basic mathematics to advanced calculus, statistics, physics and other topics. What I love about it is you type in a problem and it not only gives you the answer, but also gives you all the steps you needed to do in order to find the answer. Some examples of what it can do can be found at their wonderful website –
