Today we’re going to talk about how to create a media plan for your blog. One of the hardest things to do, if you have a blog, is figuring out what you want to write about. Having a media plan will do a couple of things for you. It will relieve you from a whole lot of stress as you don’t have to figure out what you’re going to be posting about. Since you have things planned out as you surf around you’ll find posts and items online that are related to your future posts. When you find those, make sure you bookmark them or save them so you’ll be able to find them later.
Figure out how many times you want to post a week. I would use three as minimum or 12 posts a month. Below is an example you can go by.
Post –
- Teaching post – teach someone how to do something. If you want to, and it’s something difficult for you to teach in one post you can spread it out over several days.
- Highlight / talk about a different website or tool they can use.
- Industry News – something that’s happening in your industry your visitors may be interested in. This is very important; you want to think about what your visitors are looking for.
- Highlight one of your products or services.
- Teaching post.
- Talk about a success story you’ve had with your business.
- Photos of your business. (great for posting on Pinterest and Facebook as well).
- Start over with number 1. When you get back here, start back at number 1 again.
One final thing to remember, your media plan isn’t written in stone. If you have something different you would like to write about, like a new product, service or big news with your company, post that and whatever you had planned for today you can use it on another day.
