Where has this week gone… I don’t really know. It’s one of those weeks when it’s Monday and then it’s Thursday. My daughter got her permit yesterday. It was funny watching her study for the test (online of course – and they even have an app for that now) and remember how I studied for the test (read the book). I think she ended up getting a 96 and now it’s time for the fun to begin (teaching her how to drive).
6 Ways to Keep your Current Tutor Students –
One of the best ways to grow your business is to keep the current students you have. If you haven’t learned already, it is much easier to keep a student than it is to get a new one. Here are some tips to keep those students (if you have any ideas you would like to add we would love to hear from you).
1.     Improve the student’s performance. If you tutor them well in the subject you’ve been hired to tutor them in, then you’re doing your job. If you aren’t improving their grades then you’ll want to figure out why. When you figure out why you’ll want to work on fixing the problem. If it’s a problem that involves effort on the students part then you’ll want to make sure the parent knows what’s going on.
2.     Keep Appointments. If you say their appointment starts at 4 pm, then start at 4 pm. Your being prompt will also remind them they need to be prompt as well.
3.     Be available. This is especially important as they’re studying for exams or getting ready for a big project.
4.     Keep track of how you’re doing and make sure you share it with however is paying the tutor bills. This helps to remind them they’re getting a good deal for the money they’re spending. If you helped them improve their grade from a C to a B, let them know about it.
5.     Give them something extra. Try to give them something extra every month. This could be some extra time, a book, study materials or something similar.
6.     Thank them. Make sure you thank them for letting you teach their child (or them). Do this often.

If you’re planning on working then you’ll be able to earn some extra money during that time. We’ve talked about some ideas before, in case you’ve forgotten here is a list.
- Extra tutor time for those who need it.

- Tutor camps – this works especially well if you have parents that will be working and students that don’t have anywhere to go.
In our blog we’ve talked in depth about each of these, you’ll just need to do a search for them.
