Thanks for joining us. This has been a miserable winter here, today (again) we are or will have below zero wind chill. I am so ready for Summer. If you’re on our blog, you can see of what it looked where I lived a couple of days ago. Next week is more snow and cold weather.
I am not alone in this, in the business notes section I have given you a couple of ideas of what you can do for your tutor business during this time. To both increase your revenues and to possibly get some more students.
By a landslide the vote from last week was to talk about building your tutor business from the ground up, and so that is what we’ll be doing, beginning today and we’ll finish whenever we finish, a good guess would be sometime this summer.
Today is also my anniversary, I’ve been married 23 years to a wonderful woman I love and puts up with me.
Tutor Business 101 – The Start
To begin I recommend you take our quick course. It’s a 7 Day- build a business course. You can find a sign up here – http://www.cleverapple.com/7dayemailseries.html
The tasks it asks you to do are simple and straightforward. If you have any questions you can send us a note (if you’re receiving this as a newsletter, just hit reply), or visit us on Facebook and post a comment.
Next time we’ll talk about those messages in detail.
Business Notes –
You should already be following the schools and districts close to where you live. This requires a little extra time and someways you set it up, you may have to be available all day. This would work well if you’re a stay at home mom (or dad), if you’re a teacher, or perhaps if you work night shift.
Let your students know that if school is called off you’ll be having Tutor Camp. So what is Tutor Camp? First it isn’t just studying. You want the kids to ask to come back, and if all you do is study, then they won’t be back.
Set the times you want the tutor camp to run. For example 8am to 4pm. The parents will want to have a place for their kids to stay while they work.
Charge them for your service.
Think first about how many students you could handle. Let’s say 5. When I did this I charged double what I would have for a one hour session.
Tell the students they need to reserve a space (before there is a snow day) and when they come they’ll to bring their own lunch. You’ll provide the drinks.
Spend a couple of hours in the morning tutoring. The rest of the day ask them what they want to do. Be prepared for a wide range of interests and wants.

Quote - The goal of business then should not be to simply sell to anyone who wants what you have, but rather to find people who believe what you believe.
