We had planned on taking off this week – but we got a good question in from one of our subscribers and I thought I would answer it. I also thought we would give you a discount to purchase our guide – and I do understand that if you’re like me, you’re concentrating on buying gifts for your family and friends.
I would also like to say thank you for allowing us to visit you every week. Hopefully we have provided you with some good guidance to either get your business going or to grow your business beyond your dreams.
In Case you missed it –
We would like to welcome our new subscribers – we have a ton of content you may not be aware of – you can access it here – http://www.cleverapple.com/blog/
Here’s the question –
Thanks Cindy for sending this question to us.
“I have a small tutoring business, which I started this fall. How can I say thank you to my customers without breaking the bank.â€
I think one of the most important ways to grow your business is to keep your current customers happy. These happy customers can be some of your best advertising (and you don’t have to pay them).
One of the things we do is help people grow their business through online marketing. We always try to thank them a little extra around the holiday season.
Since you’re just starting your business you will want to do something, but you don’t want to spend a fortune (and you don’t have to). Here are my tips.
- The more personal the gift the better. You should think of the student and the parent.
- Whatever you decide to give them you’ll want to make sure to write a note – thank them for their business, why you’ve enjoyed tutoring their child.
- Give the gift at an “odd†time so they’ll remember it. I like to give a gift right after Thanksgiving.
- I like to add baked goods to the box (just make sure they aren’t allergic to what you’re cooking).
- Give them something that will remind you of them (a coffee mug with your logo on it, a calendar, mouse pad etc).
So how much do you spend – I like to think it’s the thought that counts more than how much you spend. Think about how long they’ve been with your business – and how much they spend each month. So if someone spends $200 / month tutoring with you 10% is a good goal. I like to go up 5% a year until 20%.
Any ideas you would have – we would love to hear them.
