Today is Groundhog Day – my daughter was born on this day 19 years ago. I have a couple of things to go over today.
Severe weather and your business –
Today we’re supposed to have severe storms and maybe even tornados. We had a pretty good post about that a few years ago.

I would just like to add, be aware of the weather. Don’t be caught off guard, it is better to prepare for it, than be blindsided. If you know a winter storm will be coming in a few days, tell your students what your plan is – if you have tutor days when students go to school in your district are out of school, then get ready.
In a Rut
Remember the movie Groundhog Day – every morning he would wake up and live the same day over and over again. Does that feel like what you’re doing in your business? It is important that you stay motivated, if not your business will suffer and your students will notice. Here are some tips to help keep things fresh.
- Take some time off – schedule it – no one can work every day.
- Survey your students – ask them for ideas how you can make tutoring more fun, you will be surprised at some of the responses, implement those you can.
- Connect with other business owners in your community and / or online.
- Hire somebody. I have heard more business owners than I can count talk about how they can’t afford to hire someone. We’ve talking about hiring tutors on our blog – http://cleverapple.com/hiring-employees-for-your-small-business-tutor-business/ and it will give you extra time to grow your business (instead of just tutoring all the time).
Enjoy your ground hog day!
