Hope you have had a wonderful start to your week. We all know new customers are the life blood for any tutor business. Today we’re going to be talking about a resource which is kind of new and we’ve been seeing quite a bit of them lately.
The resource is care.com. As a tutor you can sign up for free or you can choose to pay. We’ve always found that paying a bit is much better than going the free route because 10 times out of 10 it will get you more traffic than going the free route.
You want to make sure before you part with your hard earned money… is the site relevant for you?
1. Does the site advertise. In the case of care.com the answer would be yes. I’ve seen ads in magazines and on television.
2. Is the site relavent for your area. Go to the site and search for your services in your area.
An example of their tutor listings can be found here – http://www.care.com/fort-wayne-tutors
It is a little clunky to use their search tools. The goal of the site I think is to get your name and email address. This is good because when they put their specific needs when they sign up (the people looking for tutoring) I’m sure you’ll get an email if you fit what they’re looking for.
3. Does the site get some good web traffic. An easy way to find out how much traffic they get is by going to compete.com http://www.compete.com/us/
Entering their url in the search box we see they have about 1.9 million visits per month (and are increasing). So they pass that test.
There are a couple of ways you can sign up for care.com and I think if you see tutors in your area when you search it is worth a test. You can pay a monthly fee or you can pay per lead. I would test a month or two using their monthly fee plan.
Good luck and make sure to tell us how it goes.
