August is almost finished, I hope that you have enjoyed a productive month and that all of your tutor sessions have been filled. Don’t worry, if you still have some vacanicies we’ll continue to talk about getting more tutor students all through the year.
Today we’re going to talk about your sales funnel and how to tweak them. We’ll continue to talk about that in September. Our issues in September will be on the 11th and 25th.
We would also like to take a moment to wish you and your family a wonderful Labor Day weekend.
Sales Funnels – A sales funnel is just a fancy way of talking about how you get students to tutor. It starts out broad and then narrows down until someone buys. The trick of course is to make the funnel function well. The better it functions the more clients you’ll get through the process.
The process for most tutor business are similar to the following, or I should say the best ways we’ve found.
Traffic -> Website -> (???) -> Interview -> New Student
Email ->
Phone->
We’ll be talking about the process in the next few newsletters. Today we’re going to talk about traffic. Traffic is how you generate leads. We’ve talked about a variety of ways for you to get leads, and we won’t go into depth about them. Each of the leads you generate should have a variety ways to contact you, if possible.
Website – you’ll want to make sure you have a few critical things on your website. You want your contact information on every page. You will also want a page with testimonials, these help to sell your expertise. You want to ensure that things are current. If people just returned to school, then you’ll want to create a page that talks about some back to school tips for whatever tutor services you’re selling. From this page you can lead them to your blog (you are posting on it at least every other day). You will want to offer a unique coupon on your site, one that you’ll be able to track.
Another thing you could have is a video of you tutoring a student. Whatever the ‘big’ problem is with students you’ll want to have plenty of links about that. I’ve found that no matter what you’re tutoring a good article on test anxiety, test taking skills will help.
Here’s a checklist –
- Phone number / email address on every page.
- Testimonials page as well as spread these throughout your other pages.
- Explain what you’re tutoring, how much it will cost them. Remember your site is an excellent way to find perfect students for your business.
- Create a unique coupon code.
- An about us page that details why you would be a perfect tutor.
That should be enough this time, we hope you enjoy your holiday.
