What a horrible week we had. Last Friday we woke up to everyone telling us that we were in for a wild weather ride. The weather channel had our area outlined for a Torcon of 9 – and it changed in the middle of the day to a 10. The national weather service put us in a PDS Tornado Watch (Particularly Dangerous Situation). When you go outside and watch as clouds are going in two different directions above your head, you know it is going to be a rough day, and it was.
The bad weather started in the afternoon and continued through the evening till 10pm or so. We spent much of the evening in a basement with our entire family and neighbors. We were spared. Tornadoes hit 50 miles to our north, 40 miles to the south, 60 miles to our west. Others weren’t so lucky. 8 major tornadoes hit, hundreds lost their homes and 22 lost their lives.

I have spent most of the week in shock, thinking about the kids that have been affected. One of the things that had been worrying me was the fact that schools in West Liberty were destroyed. You know one of the best ways to help children deal with disaster is to get them back into the routine of going to school. Some folks from God’s Pit crew have volunteered and are working hard to build them a temporary school for the rest of the year and possibly next year. You can see pictures of their progress here –

I’m not sure yet exactly how we are going to help. I apologize this isn’t a usual issue; we will hopefully get back into the swing of things and have a great issue next week.
Till then please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
