Hope your week has been going well. We’re about to have a bit of fall here. This weekend the temps are supposed to be down into the low 40’s during the morning. I do enjoy the fall and I guess this is a little early for it.
This week we continue to talk about time management. If you missed any part we’ll have those links for you below.
Part 1 – How to Get More Done – without sleeping an hour a night
part 2 – Distractions – how to get rid of them and some distractions you may not be aware of.
Part 3 –Time Management – 20 minutes at a time
Recharging your batteries – it is true all work and no play makes Jack not only dull but less productive.
You need to schedule or plan some time off. When you plan time off it should really be time off (with no work or business distractions). This can be hard to do since you have the opportunity to take the internet with you on your cell phone. One of the best ways I’ve found to do this is to tell my wife what I’m doing and she will then make sure I stay focused on the time off… maybe that would work for you as well.
You should also make sure you take some time off every day to exercise. Even walking slowly for 15 or 20 minutes on a treadmill will help. Some of my best ideas come when I’m doing my morning work out… it’s when I do some of my best problem solving.
Multi-tasking – Things you can multitask and other things you shouldn’t even think about it.
When I was working full time at a normal job, working on my Bachelor’s degree and running my business, I became pretty adept at multi-tasking. I used flash cards a lot in my studies, so when I had a lunch break, I would review the cards. I also had to travel a lot so during those trips I would listen to lectures (I recorded them all). I couldn’t design and build a website and study. I learned pretty quickly what worked and what didn’t and you will to. You should always be learning about things related to your business. I try to spend at least an hour learning something new – listening to an mp3 while a walk on the treadmill is a great way to combine two things.
We should have the last segment on the blog tomorrow.
This week’s quick tip –
If you need an online to do list, I’ve found one that I really like. You can find it here – http://todoist.com
I really like how it allows you to segment things into different parts… like work, business, family etc. Good stuff and the great thing about it is it is free.
We look forward to seeing you next week.
