I saw an interesting article this morning (yes my inbox overflows with “junk†mail but many times I will learn something new or a different way to approach a problem). It was 7 signs you have terrible people skills. You can read the article here –

It’s from salary.com and is a series of emails that help you to get a job. The tutor business is one where people skills are one of the most important skills you can have, probably only behind the ability to teach whatever subject you’re tutoring. Good people skills will not only help you land clients but will also help you retain the clients / students you already have.
One of the first things you’ll need to realize is any problem areas you may have. If you don’t think you have any, ask your family members. One of my biggest problems is a short fuse. Over the years I’ve managed to expand that fuse quite a bit. I now count to ten when I realize I’m getting mad, and then I count to ten again just to make sure. I also force myself to think before I speak (or write an email message). I try to pretend I’m the recipient of that message.
Fortunately you can improve your social skills with training, practice and patience. Here’s a place you can start – http://www.slideshare.net/hsamseyla.access/151-quick-ideas-to-improve-your-people-skills there are also a ton of books out there that will help you improve.
Enjoy your day.
