Tutor Business Tips Finding Leads what if you don’t have a child in school.
For this exercise we’re going to pretend we don’t even have a child in school and in fact we’re going to act like we’ve just moved into a brand new city. Â If you would like us to provide the instructions as a video let us know and we’ll work on it.
We’ll say we just moved to Louisville Ky. We tutor Jr. High School Math.
- The first thing we’ll need to do is find out where all of the schools are we want to serve in the area. We go to Google and search Louisville School System Ky.
- Our first result is http://www.jefferson.k12.ky.us/ – we click on the schools tab.
- We see a couple of good links from this page. We’ll want to save a couple of the pdfs for our files. As we do this process we want to collect as much information we can on the schools. I think every school has a different personality, some are very friendly and others not so much. You can save the pdfs for your computer by right clicking on the link and choose where you want to save the file. There are 23 middle schools so we’ll want to choose 4 or 5 schools to base our efforts on. We’ll say we live near Fern Creek and there are 6 schools within an easy driving distance. We save the pdfs for the school map and the telephone directory.
- We then list the 6 schools we want to target and get a map that we’ll be able to lay on a table to plan things. You’ll also want to create a folder for each of the schools on our computer.
More next time.

If I wanted to tutor people on finding grant money, would I be able to use your service or does it have to be tutoring math and reading, etc?
How would I set up a program like that? Perhaps a webinar. I am a nationally certified grant writer and I would like to teach people our to find the money they need for their dreams. Not selling a book that produces not results. Almost like a consultant plus tutor. Please advise!
Thanks, ,

Hi Dr. Fletcher,
Certainly you can tutor things beside Math etc.
I have a couple of questions then I can give you some recommendations.
Are you going to have a class – and then students do work during the class?
Are you going to be reviewing work they do?
