News – I noticed in our series on how to tutor subjects, I forgot all about writing. This week I’ve been helping my daughter write her first formal essay. I told her of all the skills I learned in school I use writing the most. I never, ever thought that would be the case when I was in skill. I always dreaded having to write anything. I had a teacher in college who helped me to see the light while I was writing a feasibility study… imagine that. So today in this issue we’re giving you some tips for writing and also talk about some ways you can make more money in your tutor business during fall break.
In Case you missed it – We outline our schedule for October.
Please note if you would like us to talk about something specific then please let us know.

Fall Break Ideas –
Many students will be having fall breaks coming up either this month… and if they don’t have a fall break, almost every school will get some time off for Thanksgiving.  Below are some ways you can use these breaks to add some revenue to your bottom line.
- By now your students should have gotten at least one report card or are very close to getting one. If you have several students you can have a study session on one of the days off. You can charge what you normally charge for a session but you’ll have a number of students there. If it’s Math you can do Math problems all day. If it’s History or Science you can study and have them ask questions. You can work on problems you’ve been noticing. This project you would want to have for current students.
- Have a day camp. This could be for every day of the vacation or just one day. You’ll want to have some studying but do some fun things as well. If you don’t have fun things to do then they will not want to come back.
For both of these methods you’ll want to send a flyer along with the student’s tutoring report. You’ll also want to mention and explain it to the parents when you have their weekly conference call. If the break is next week and you want to do it, you’ll want to call them before this weekend and tell them about the extras.
