Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We had a lot of fun with friends and family… and lots of turkey.
We want to welcome the new subscribers and the folks that ordered the online tutoring program on sale with the extras.
We’ve just finished our series on some things you can do to improve your tutor business. Now it’s up to you what we talk about next. We can talk about how to create a web presence or we can talk about something else. If you want us to talk about the web let us know (you can just reply to this email or leave a comment on facebook or our blog). If you would like for us to talk about something different then let us know that as well.
I forget sometimes that you can tutor other things besides school subjects. You can actually tutor anything that you’re ‘good’ at – or have some expertise in doing. We got a new customer this week and they want to tutor / teach how to play a game better. I thought this was a bad idea until I started to do some research into how many people play the game and what the demographics were. He started last week and has already signed up a few students.
One of the ways he’s teaching is by using Google Places and letting his students watch and learn. Then they play and he gives them some tips.
Even if you are tutoring a subject, it doesn’t mean you can’t expand what you’re tutoring. Some things that come to mind include:
Musical instrument – guitar, piano, drums.
A Craft – crochet, knitting, scrapbooking
How to invest – stocks
How to Save Money – collecting coupons, saving money on anything.
Finding out if there is a market.
When you have an idea one of the next things you’ll want to do is find out if there is a market for what you want to teach. Here’s how you do that.
1. Visit this link – https://www.google.com/search?q=keyword+tool – click on the first link that says keyword tool.
2. Enter the terms you’re looking for in the search box. I’ll put in how to play guitar. Enter the captcha words and then click on the Search Button.
3. Usually if there are over 250,000 searches then you have a very good market. For this search we have over a million searches, so teaching guitar would be a great idea.
Hopefully these ideas will help get you thinking outside of the box.
