It’s a rainy day here and my daughter is out of school. She has just completed her first year of high-school. The reason she is out so early this year is because of the mild winter we had. We usually miss anywhere from 2 to 3 weeks because of snow days… but not this year. So she has a nice 3 month long vacation and I can take a break from Algebra homework for a bit.
There has been a lot of ruckus on the internet about some recent updates Google made regarding their Penguin update. Google updates their Algorithm frequently. They are in a constant battle of stopping spammers from taking over. Unfortunately sometimes during these updates legitimate sites get caught in the crossfire of their updates.
Here are some things you can remember and do in order to stay on top of the game.
1. Use the tools Google gives you in order to get free traffic. These include things like Google Places and Google Plus.
2. Make sure you’re posting on your blog at least a couple of times a week. This helps make your site “fresh”.
3. Advertise using Google Adwords and Facebook. You can use both of these to advertise to your local audience. I think we’ll talk about that in our newsletter this week.
4. Don’t ever depend just on Google. Continue your advertising efforts offline, schools, and otherwise.
Hope you have a wonderful Tuesday!!
