Hope you enjoyed your weekend.
I was talking to someone recently who was looking to get the first student to tutor. The first student is usually the hardest to get. I gave her this tidbit.
Look for Customers Who Are Looking For You
It seems pretty easy, but many times people forget about it. If I’m looking for high school students then I would want to focus on places high school students (and their parents hang out). Say one of the place kids in your town hang out is at the skating rink. Nothing prevents you from putting one of the flyers we talked about making in the entrance area of the skating rink, that way both kids and parents get a chance to see it.
We talked about doing a free ‘talk’ about study techniques. Anyone that shows up to it would automatically be someone that is looking for you. Going to watch sports of schools you want to tutor students from is another great way. Ask if you can put a flyer near the concession stand.
Just a reminder you’ll want to make sure you track those flyers so you’ll know exactly where your new leads are coming from.
Another good place is the library. Kids are already going there to get a little extra learning. You can ask the librarian if you could present your study technique program for free.
I’ve given you four or five ideas, try to commit to doing at least one this week and let us know how it goes.
