One of the things you should be doing is contacting your current tutor clients. You should be asking them the following:
1. Will they need your services this year?
You should already know this. It should have been one of the things you asked at the end of the last school year. You should also know if they have several kids and if they have another one that will need your services. Should you expand your services to include different grades. If they were your client last year, and still need your services, but aren’t going to be using your tutor services this year… then you will want to find out why. Ask them to be honest with you. These exit reviews will help you build your business, if you listen to them.
2. Do they know anyone that may need your services?
Do they have any relatives or friends that may need your services? These are the easiest customers to convert. You will have to do very little selling of your services because they will have already sold you. This is also one of the reasons you want to use testimonials on your website. Testimonials help give you social proof that you do what you say you’re going to. This is one of the reasons you should be using specific numbers that will help you tell a story. An example would be you improved thier test scores by %, or they passed all their semester tests with A’s, or they scored a 30 on the ACT.
3. Could they help you by letting their friends know about you?
Now you want them to actively sell your services for you. The best way you can do this is by offering a discount for their tutoring or you can offer them cash. You’ll want to make sure you have the agreement in writing. Hope this helps you a bit – Good Luck and we’ll talk to you again on Thursday.
