We get comments from time to time from folks that want to grow their tutor business. We started on Monday and for a few weeks we’ll be working on sending you some tips to help you grow your business. If you’re just starting out these will be some great tips too.
We started the series on Monday – so here are 3 posts you’ll want to make sure you check out before you begin working on this step.
Your business pulse – with worksheet
Some people in business never take time to actually figure out where their business is at, how it compared to last year, and how you can do some simple things to improve your bottom line. You don’t want to be like that.
We want to work on creating a spreadsheet that we’ll be able to use to figure some of those things out. Yes it will take some time to gather your information, but it will be time well spent.
We’ll be working on creating a video that will explain how to do each step. We should have that video up for you on Monday. You can check out our blog / facebook for the video. Below we’ve given you some instructions on exactly how to fill out the spreadsheet.
We have two spreadsheets below. One is a blank spreadsheet – business pulse. The other is one we’ve filled out, to give you some guidance – business pulse example.
Date of Report – the date the report was written.
Scope of Report – the scope of the report – is it for a year / quarter / six months / month.
Tutoring – total income from tutoring – this information can be obtained from the report we created yesterday.
Extras – income from extras. Again you can copy this from yesterdays spreadsheet.
Misc.++- other income you made in your tutoring business. This could be from classes you help, advertising etc.
Employees – total cost for your employees.
Advertising – advertising from any source.
Supplies – supplies for your business. Books, etc.
Office – office supplies. Printer ink, copy paper, etc.
Utilities – total costs of utilities related to your business.
Phone – dedicate phone lines / cell phones you use for your business.
Misc.++ – expenses like a new computer, printer etc.
Profit / Loss – did you make or loose money.
Tutoring – take these from the previous sheet you did.
Future Project 1 – any additional items / projects you are working on.
As always if you have any questions you can feel free to email us (you can just reply to this email if you subscribe to our newsletter), if you found this on our blog or facebook you can use the comments section.
