Assessing your Tutor Student
We’ve talked quite a bit about assessing your student previously. http://www.cleverapple.com/blog/category/how-to-tutor/
After this initial assessment you’ll want to work to continually assess the student. You’ll want to work on building on the student’s strengths and helping them with their weaknesses.
We’ve had student’s that were super ‘smart’ but when they started to take a text they forgot everything they knew. Test anxiety is a real problem and there are some ways to work on fixing it.
Test Anxiety –
They may need to work on their memory skills. When I was taking anatomy in college I used flash cards, which I continued to use throughout college. That technique worked for me, your job is to figure out what works best for your students.

Improving Memory Skills –

Maybe they have trouble remembering what they read.

Even students who don’t have trouble with these skills may benefit from a refresher course or a reminder of how to improve these things.
Enjoy your Tuesday.
